While Canadian World Schools (CWS) provides up to a year of access to each course, we’ve observed that students excel when they maintain a consistent pace. To assist you in managing your time effectively, our Student Success team has compiled some useful tips and benchmarks:
- Establish Your Target Completion Date: Consider when you aim or need to finish the course. Set your target completion date a week earlier to allow for a cushion and processing time.
- Create a Course Outline: Refer to your course outline to list the required materials and assignments. Note the number of lessons in each unit and any graded assignments.
- Assess Your Available Study Time: Reflect on how much time you can dedicate to studying each week realistically. Aim for consistency rather than setting overly ambitious goals.
- Allocate Time for Lessons: Budget approximately 1.5 hours per lesson, including watching the lesson, reading materials, note-taking, and completing homework questions. Adjust based on your learning style and familiarity with the course material.
- Approach Homework Strategically: At CWS, homework is optional and intended to reinforce understanding. Complete as much as needed for comprehension, utilizing provided solutions for self-checking. Reach out to your teacher for assistance when encountering difficulties.
- Prepare for Tests: Dedicate at least three days to review key concepts before a unit test. Utilize practice tests available in the course resources for optimal preparation. Allocate a quiet, uninterrupted 3-hour period for test-taking.

- Final Exam Preparation: Allow a minimum of one week for the comprehensive review, including notes, previous tests, and lesson re-watching for areas needing reinforcement. Utilize practice exams from the course resources to gauge readiness.
