Yes, CWS is an accredited private school in Ontario, Canada. CWS has been inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education and has met all inspection requirements to be given the authority to issue (OSSD) Ontario Secondary School Diploma credits. OSSD credits are the same credits issued by all public schools in Ontario, which count towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. All of our online courses follow the Ontario Curriculum.

You will need a computer, tablet or a cellphone with a strong speed internet; however, our course material runs better on a PC or Mac. (Please see the PC requirements page).

CWS School has no refund policy after registration. Within 5 days of the commencement of a course, a student can request in writing to transfer to another available CWS course provided that they have not attempted any of the course evaluations. Request must made to the administration office at info@cwsschool.com.  A transfer to another course can only be done on one occasion with a fee of $125.00.

For the vast majority of student, the tuition fee for their course is the only fee they pay to CWS. Additional fees may apply in the following circumstances:

  1. Course Transfers: A student has the option to transfer from one course to another within 5 days, if they have not completed any assessment or evaluations.  If a student requests a transfer, an administrative fee of $125 will be required.
  2. OSSLT: Should a student wish to take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test at CWS head office located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, a fee of $199 will apply. Should a student wish to take the OSSLT through CWS at an alternative location in Ontario, a fee of $249 will apply.Full time international students may write OSSLT for free of charge in one of our satellite locations around the world. Writing OSSLT in a country or city with no satellite location a fee of $249 will apply.
  3. Course Extensions: CWS Students will have the opportunity to extend a course if they are unable to complete the course within the 12-month time limit. The extension options and fees are listed below:
    • 1 additional month: $99
    • 2 additional months: $149
    • 3 additional months: $199
    • 4 additional months: $249
    • 5 additional months: $299
    • 6 additional months: $349

    The maximum length of extension allowed for any course is 6 months total. Students must pay for the extension on or before the date of expiration.

    Additional costs may also occur if a student transfers their OSR to CWS and CWS becomes the student’s home school, or if CWS is required to create a new OSR. Such costs include the following:

  4. Equivalent Credit Assessments (K-12): CWS can assess the transcripts of students from outside Ontario to determine whether equivalent credits can be granted that will apply toward the OSSD requirements. The fee for an equivalent credit assessment is $199. The assessment will determine how many courses the student needs to complete in order to earn the OSSD. The student will need to register for a course within six months from the date of the assessment in order for the assessment to remain valid. CWS will enter the equivalent credits on the student’s transcript once the student has earned one credit at CWS.*Full time international student will be free of charge for grade K-12.
  5. OUAC: An OUAC account can be opened for any student whose OSR is hosted by CWS. CWS will maintain the OUAC account throughout that school year. CWS will provide this service free of charge for CWS student including part time student.CWS can also communicate directly with post-secondary institutions, rather than OUAC, if needed. A fee of $25 per instance will apply. Additional fees will also apply if a student requires information to be couriered through UPS or Canada Post to any institution.

Once the registration process is complete, students will receive an initial email confirming their registration. A second email will be sent with the student’s username and a password, which can be used to enter the class.

Each student will be assigned a certified teacher which will be available to the student throughout their course. Students will have opportunities to ask questions and request for help when necessary.

At CWS School, students will be assigned a certified, skilled teacher. Students will have the same teacher throughout the entire course and will be able to communicate with the teacher via CWS email, and many other tools in the platform. On extremely rare occasions, a teacher may become unavailable to teach a course, but that role will be immediately filled by another CWS qualified teacher.

The primary responsibility of CWS teacher is to support students to be successful in the course. Your teacher is the first contact for questions or concerns about your course or course content. CWS teachers will be a available via email and will respond to chats and topic discussions online.  Also, teachers will provide feedback for better understanding of grade expectations and assessments.

You will communicate with your teacher primarily through email within the learning environment, video conferencing, telephone, zoom, Google meet and other available sources, depending on your location.

Once you register through CWS website you will have 24/7 access to CWS online course. Use your username login and password to access the learning management system. Then, at a pace suitable to your learning, you can study through the interactive lessons, and practice quizzes. When you are ready you can complete the unit evaluations, you can compete them and use the drop box to submit.   You will have instructions on how to submit your work in your courses.  Each student will receive a midterm report card, and a final report card.

One of the greatest features of CWS online learning is the flexibility to complete your course. Course progress is measured on the completion of the assignments, projects, formative and summative evaluations for each course.  You can login to CWS system and learn at home any time and connect to your teacher and your classmates from around the world. CWS students are eligible to complete the course between four or eight weeks. Attendance is not tracked. Students have up to 12 months in which to complete their courses and have the option to pay for course extensions. Students choose when and how the coursework is completed. At CWS, we recognize that students learn at different paces, and therefore, our school do not track the amount of time students spend online working on their courses. The rate of progress through the course is based on the students’ completion of the lessons and assessments. If you require a slower pace you can take up to 12 months to complete a course.

CWS Elementary and Middle School has a non-semester school year for out of province student only.  ESL classes are every day and other subjects will be thought 2 full days on Thursday and Fridays of each week.

CWS Summer school runs in July and August and part of September each year.  CWS offers full teaching schedules to complete one full grade in 2.5 months.

Yes. CWS courses are available year-round, meaning you can register and start anytime!

No. You are not required to have study permit or a Canadian student visa to study with CWS School if you do not have status in Canada.

Yes. You are able to take any course(s) through CWS School, anywhere in the world.

Yes, you can. CWS immigration department will facilitate CWS international students to have the option to write their Final exam (grade 9-12 only) in Canada and explore Canadian post-secondary institutions with their immediate families.

Some courses require students to write a final exam at the end of the course. This exam must be written in the presence of an approved CWS proctor either in-person at CWS office or a CWS approved satellite location. A proctor is a professional approved by CWS who meets with the student to witness the test or final exam being written and confirms that all procedures outlined by CWS were properly followed. The date, time, place, and proctor for a student’s final exam are selected by the student and has to be approved by CWS office. If a student chooses a proctor who charges a fee for their services, the student is responsible for those or any other expenses. Once the final exam has been written, the proctor must send the test or exam back to CWS office and confirm its receipt with CWS.  Final Exams can not be destroyed, unless with written consent of the principal.

Depending on the course, the feedback time can vary. Most CWS course offerings provide feedback and grading within 5 business days.

No.  You do not have to wait for their mark on an assignment to move forward.  You can continue working through your lessons; however, we recommend waiting for your teacher’s feedback before submitting more assignments so that you can use the feedback to improve on future coursework.

CWS Accommodations may include reducing the workload of a student, if there is an existing medical need.  Accommodations may also be in form of re-wording tasks and simplifying in steps material, or providing more time for learning and completing activities for the course. The assistance of other persons may also be required to accommodate student needs. One of the main benefits is that students are able to work at their own pace and spend as much as time on the lessons as needed to understand the concepts. Accommodations can be made through contact with the school administrator at info@cwsschool.ca.

CWS teachers are coached on ways to best support ELLs in order to provide all students with the support they need to be successful in the courses.  Additionally, helpful tips are provided within courses for ELLs if they are having any difficulty with the English language.

A prerequisite course is one that a student must complete prior to taking the next level of the subject. Prerequisite requirements are outlined by the Ministry of Education in Ontario in order to ensure that students are properly prepared to take a course at the higher level. For example, a student must complete SBI3U prior to being able to take SBI4U in order to ensure that the student has the mathematical foundation to be successful in the higher-level course. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain and send CWS a copy of their Ontario Student Transcript (OST), report card, or credit counseling summary. Such documents prove to CWS that the student has achieved the prerequisite for the course.

Yes.  Waivers of a prerequisite in possible, but it is rare.  This is done at the discretion of the CWS Principal. If a student or parent requests that a prerequisite be waived, the principal will determine whether or not the prerequisite should be waived based upon the student’s educational level, experience, maturity and capability. If a student has taken a similar course in a different province or country, it is possible that the prerequisite could be waived as determined by course equivalency standards.

To complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, students need to complete a minimum of 40 hours of unpaid community involvement activities before graduating from high school, over the term of grades 9-12 only. This requirement is additional to the 30 credits needed for a high school diploma. CWS Students will be able to choose their own community involvement activities, within guidelines that will be provided by CWS. CWS Students will be responsible for fulfilling this requirement on their own time.  All activities must be approved by the CWS principal.  CWS students are required to submit their community involvement record to the Principal for record-keeping purposes. The data will be placed on the OST and kept in the student’s OSR. Before beginning any community involvement activity, CWS students must complete and submit a “CWS NOTIFICATION OF PLANNED COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT ACTIVITIES” Form.  CWS provides forms necessary for the community involvement activities upon request.

CWS student who lives in other provinces or countries, require to follow CWS community involvement guide line to choose an activity which is approved activity by CWS School principal.  CWS International students also can apply for Canadian visa with CWS invitation to complete community involvement hours in Ontario, Canada. CWS immigration department can guide CWS student with visa and application process. For visa and application process fees, you can send an email to immigration@cwsschool.ca

CWS students seeking an Ontario Secondary School Diploma will take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) in Grade 10.  CWS Students must pass the test to graduate, and their result is recorded on their Ontario School Transcript. Students who do not complete the test successfully will receive remedial help to prepare them for re-testing. The literacy test requirement is additional to the 30 credits needed for a high school diploma.

The literacy test evaluates students’ reading and writing skills based on curriculum expectations in language and communications up to and including Grade 9. English Second Language students will take the test only when they have reached this level in their language studies. Students not working towards a diploma are exempted from writing the literacy test.

In the situation when CWS student does not pass the OSSLT, they may wish to complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course to meet the provincial requirements. Students who complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course, Grade 12, Open (OLC4O) successfully will meet the provincial literacy requirement for graduation.

Yes. CWS will send marks directly to OUACOCAS, and your home school. We require to have OUAC/OCAS or your university student number to complete this process. An OUAC account can be opened for any student whose OSR is hosted by CWS. CWS will maintain the OUAC account throughout that school year. CWS will provide this service free of charge for CWS student including part time student.

CWS can also communicate directly with post-secondary institutions, rather than OUAC, if needed. A fee of $25 per instance will apply. Additional fees will also apply if a student requires information to be couriered through FedEx or Canada Post to any institution.

Yes.  If a student has registered to universities or Colleges directly in Ontario, CWS will send your marks directly to the post-secondary institutions. We are require to have your student number or application number to complete this process. To send official marks to any out of province university/college, there will be a charge for processing and mailing the report card or CWS transcript.

Yes.  Since CWS School is a private school, students do not require permission from their regularly attended day school or school board to take any course. When you have successfully finished the course with CWS, we will send you one copy of the report card and a second copy will be forwarded to your home school. Your home school will then add this report card to your Ontario Student Record (OSR) and this credit will be added to your transcript. Upon request, CWS can also send your marks directly to the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) or Ontario College Application Centre (OCAC).

CWS will inform the student’s home school when they register for a course, a midterm report card and final report card will be sent to the home school. The OSSD credit earned at CWS will then be added to the student’s list of credits, which is maintained by the home school on an Ontario Student Transcript (OST).

At CWS, students earn OSSD credits, which are the same credits that a student would earn in public schools in Ontario. As a result, CWS credits will not be viewed any differently by post-secondary institutions in Canada. Ministry of Education in Ontario investigated the needs of post-secondary educations with implementing 2 mandatory high school credits in 4 years high school OSSD program. This is an initiative to help students become familiar with on-line education system and platforms.

Yes. CWS School will provide the opportunities for all CWS students to attend the annual graduation ceremony in Canada.
